These are recent thoughts, I am still pondering.
Fences provide directional lines and a foreground. This was a beautiful morning and I pulled into the park right after the truck with the plow had paved a way to get in. The snow was deep, fresh and coated the landscape.
Another solitary road in a peaceful place with winter colors around me.

I was following directions on google maps through my phone. My destination was a lake. I was unfamiliar with the area, so it wasn’t until I had reached my destination that I realized I was several miles off course at an old farmhouse in the middle of nowhere. However, as an artist, the middle of nowhere is sometimes a good place to be, so I got out my paint box.

There was an old log cabin in a city park. Although the day was grey, the yellows in the landscaped popped.
The changing clouds of midday and a calm lake greeted me and my painting companion.
This was the second early morning painting and I was looking to the west. Although the clouds above were thick and the close grass appeared close to silhouette, near the horizon line the clouds thinned and there was the promise of a beautiful day.
There was a touch of red in the tree, on this hot day in early fall.
