Michigan Lighthouse in the Rain

I found a small shelter to paint under during the rain.  There weather was rainy and cloudy for the most part while we were in Michigan and I had scouted out this spot so that I’d know where to go on a rainy morning.  Mornings previous to this I found myself looking for places to paint from the back of my car when it was raining.

Michigan Beach: Changing Weather and a Lighthouse

The painting below was done completely in plein air, but I had to use my memory and an image I took from my phone to finish it.  Half way through the painting, there was a dramatic weather change and this stormy scene that you see in front of you became a sunny, peaceful day.
