In Illinois, I stopped here on the way home and painted a plein air of the fall scene. Â It was an unusually warm day and perfect for standing outside.

On my return home, I ended up stopping at the same spot along the Illinois and Indiana border. Â It was ver windy, but warm so I was able to position myself half in and half out of my car and paint. Â The car sheltered me from the wind and kept my easel from toppling over!

There is a place to pull over and rest at the border between the states. Â I pulled over and painted this small painting on my way to visit my family. Â The rich colors of autumn on this cool sunny day filled my senses.

I invited my cousin’s wife to come paint with me one morning over 4th of July weekend and she said- “Yes!” Â It was fun to introduce her to painting plein air and to have a buddy at sunrise in the park. Â We set up near this bridge. Â It was a gloomy morning and I was waiting and hoping the whole time that the sun would shine through and illuminate the scene.
My family went to the park and while my dad and brother enjoyed boating on the water, I painted this sketch. Â It was July 4th and although the park was crowded, I was able to get up the courage to paint amongst all the people enjoying the nice day.
I got up at sunrise while visiting my parents on July 4th weekend, painted at nearby Aldeen Park and was enchanted by this lone tree in front of the field. The lone tree has room to stretch its branches.
