Looking along the edge of the lake, these large trees rose out of the sand dune.
Every evening and morning, from season to season, there are different color schemes in nature. Â On this particular evening the water was silvery and metalic against a blue liquid sky.
When the sun first came up there was beautiful color around this tree. Â This tree was a part of several others that stood at the edge of the beach. Â The first day I had found shelter from the wind and sun underneath it.

The glow on the water and the dance of the light and dark changes in the greenery attracted me to this scene. I was able to stand under the shade of a foot bridge to paint this scene. In the evening I was able to get down to the beach below the cottage that we were staying at. The sun was low and there was a golden reflection from the bank onto the water. A fallen tree and the tops of posts in the water finished off the composition.

I took my little painting companion to a playground that was on a patch of sand near a small lake. He was trouble and sand got everywhere, but I was able to get a good start on this small painting that I later finished in the studio.
It was an early morning and the stillness of the area surrounded me. At one point a couple came and took a dip in the lake. I thought it was too cold and they seemed to think so too as they hurried back to their car and drove away.
