The pattern of the clouds drew me into the scene on the edge of the water.
It was early morning and I saw this scene on a small lake as I drove by. Â I cam back and parked and worked quickly to try to capture the colors that were changing slower then usual at this time of morning due to the cloud cover.

There were purple flowers growing along the side of the bluff as it descended to the water and I enjoyed the color changes between the flowers, the silvery blue water and the evening sky.

I was thinking more about simplified patterns and looking for the patterns around me. Â I also seem to be drawn to reflections when considering patterns in nature. Â I found these simple patterned but not patterned grasses in the calm morning as the sun rose and unpredictable clouds floated across the sky.

I was interested in the changes in value and color that the grasses made as their background changed from other grass, to water, to sky.

It was a dreary day, and beach had only a few people. Â I liked the reflections in the close water.

I stood on the porch of a house on the lake and painted the view. The red stone on the edge of the grass was where the front door of the house used to be. They had to move the house back and now the red stone is where the bluff starts.
It was a blazing afternoon and the different surfaces on the water drew my attention. Â This lonely bench caught my eye.

It was a chilly morning and I painted this quick little scene and then had to warm up before painting another one.
