This painting, finished at the end of March, is thirty inches high and sixty inches long. Â It was inspired by the rice paper butterfly.
Here are a few examples that I painted for a watercolor student of mine. Â We were focusing on completing quick paintings that focused on a combination of large areas of flat color and strong varied lines. Â Quick paintings are useful in aiding one to not overthink while painting.
This is an example that I painted for one of my watercolor students. Â It is a quick watercolor study using large washes combined with fine varied lines. Â We were working quick to avoid overthinking and to try to get a sense of immediacy in the painting.

This week, one of my students came in and needed hands-on practice using her camera.  I grabbed a vase of flowers that I had sitting around, shone a strong light on them and walked her through how to use her camera.  We took a lot of pictures, so that hopefully she will feel more confidence with her camera. The following are two photographs that I snapped.
