This painting, finished at the end of March, is thirty inches high and sixty inches long. Â It was inspired by the rice paper butterfly.
I recently completed this butterfly abstract commission painting.
“The wings are so present that I feel like I should use my hand to shield my eyes from the wind caused by the wings flapping.” Â Stephen James upon viewing the above painting.
Azure Joy is the first of at least three larger Butterfly abstract paintings that I am working on. Â The large size of the painting impacts the viewer and surrounds the viewer with color. Â This paintings seems calming.
I have been working on a number of paintings simultaneously lately. Â Here is a blue butterfly painting where I was particularly interested in the play of light through one wing and on another.
