Diohandi, the artist who designed the Greek pavillion in the 2011 Venice Biennial, was interested in creating a site specific work that reflected the architecture of Venice and spoke of the recession that was occuring in Greece. According to the artist statedment the artist was interested in space and time, combining water, sound and light. There was no one else in the Greek Pavillion when I entered, which added a sense of loss and loneliness to the installation. The room was flooded with water except for a walkway that went across the space. The site was devoid of color. The emotional result was a deliberate, soothing, cathartic atmosphere.
