This beautiful morning I followed the plow into this park and liked the look of the fresh snow hanging on this tree.

I like the angle of the bridge in the composition and the play of the bright snow to the trees. Â The light was very bland on this day and it forced me to look at shape, color and composition to come up with a scene. Â It was peaceful.

Fences provide directional lines and a foreground. Â This was a beautiful morning and I pulled into the park right after the truck with the plow had paved a way to get in. Â The snow was deep, fresh and coated the landscape.

At the edge of a city looking out at nature and the remnants of Winter snow. Â I was interested in the expanse and the open feeling of the scene.

A day or two after “Before the Snow” I went out and painted the scene after the snow. It was a warm day for snow and I enjoyed the clouds in the distance while my foreground was in sunshine.

The light was even with the heavy clouds closing the landscape in. Â It was a very cold day and I painted this study from my car.

I worked on emphasizing the underlying colors and played with texture in this image. Â It was a very windy day and I had to hold on to the easel to keep everything from being blown away!

The scene glowed and I focused on the underlying patterns.

A beautiful fall morning. Â I started this on location, but was blocked from finishing it on site.
