I loved the way the sunlight sparkled on the water and shone through the leaves of the tree while creating a silhouette of the lower bushes.

It was a dreary morning but this tree fascinated me.

The sun came out for this painting last May at the lake. Â I was interested in the subtle background mountains contrasting with the foreground tree.

This is the other painting from my trip to the missed lake. This was a plein air start that I finished in the studio and used my on site notes and value study, other location painting, and a photo reference.

The tree line in the distance was what drew me to this scene.

Just off the parking lot at a park. Â The gold in the tree contrasted with the mountains behind and the way the path drew me into the scene.

This forest of trees caught my eye because of the implied natural pattern in the trees and foreground grass. Â It became an experiment in pattern and texture.

Early morning at a nearby park. The pattern of the circle of light in the tree is what attracted me to this scene.

My husband caught me enjoying a beautiful afternoon and working on a flower study.

Outside of the cottage that we rented in Michigan last June there was a flower garden full of Irises. By the end of the week, they opened up enough that I could paint one.
