I like the angle of the bridge in the composition and the play of the bright snow to the trees. Â The light was very bland on this day and it forced me to look at shape, color and composition to come up with a scene. Â It was peaceful.

This was a particularly hard day for me to find a painting in the landscape. Â The lighting was very even, however, I took the challenge and was fairly happy with at least three of the four paintings of the day. Â Here is a quiet scene of the bottom of a tree in the snow.
A day or two after “Before the Snow” I went out and painted the scene after the snow. It was a warm day for snow and I enjoyed the clouds in the distance while my foreground was in sunshine.
Last Summer, Sea Foam was hanging in a spare bedroom.
There was an old log cabin in a city park. Â Although the day was grey, the yellows in the landscaped popped.
December in Kentucky can be dreary, but the color scheme in the country is beautiful and I was loving the orange pop in the scene and the way these two trees in the foreground interacted with one another.
Here is a cropped  image from an early stage of this butterfly abstract. I was laying in the pattern and starting to establish the colors in the underpainting.
I was interested in the layers of this vertical scene of the foreground brush, fence, field, and distant hill.
