The pattern of the clouds drew me into the scene on the edge of the water.

The pattern of the clouds drew me into the scene on the edge of the water.

Looking along the edge of the lake, these large trees rose out of the sand dune.
This was a cold windy morning.

It was a beautiful afternoon and I found shade under the back of my car. Â On the other side of the road was the grass sand dune and beyond that — the water.

When the sun first came up there was beautiful color around this tree. Â This tree was a part of several others that stood at the edge of the beach. Â The first day I had found shelter from the wind and sun underneath it.

In the evening I was able to get down to the beach below the cottage that we were staying at. The sun was low and there was a golden reflection from the bank onto the water. A fallen tree and the tops of posts in the water finished off the composition.

It was an early morning and the stillness of the area surrounded me. At one point a couple came and took a dip in the lake. I thought it was too cold and they seemed to think so too as they hurried back to their car and drove away.

The beach was busy, but I was able to find a place in the shade of the hillside. Â There were some curious kids who enjoyed watching the start of my painting before they had to leave for the day. Â I chose to include a few figures in this painting to try to infer how large the rocks are on this coast.

The fog that had been moving from the ocean horizon to the coast arrived in the early evening and gave a glorious golden mist to everything.

I place my wet paintings in the back window of our car when I am traveling so that they can dry. Â This painting was sitting in the back when Beth walked by and saw it. Â It was Beth’s birthday and she recognized the place along the Oregon coast where it was painted. Â She bought it and took it home. Â Happy Birthday Beth and I hope that you are still enjoying your painting!
